The interweaving of traditional and modern Eastern aesthetics: an interpretation of the design of Beijing's urban reception rooms

Design Director: Liu Haoyu
Address: Beijing, China
Area: 600 square meters
Keywords: custom furniture, oriental elements, corporate clubhouse, Beijing, gold and stone wood elements, orange, modern home decor

Origin: Poetic Dwelling in the City
In the embrace of Beijing's central axis, Yangshan Park is like a brilliant pearl, adjacent to the Olympic Park and Beijing Convention Center, surrounded by thousands of acres of lush greenery, and can be called the "Peach Blossom Spring" of the city center. The main mountain "Yangshan" and "Jingshan" here echo each other from afar, perfectly interpreting the cultural connotation of "high mountains rise to the limit, scenic routes stop", and also conforming to the aesthetic pursuit of symmetry, balance, and harmony in traditional Chinese culture.
Symbiotic and Domain Design Firm has been commissioned by the client to create a peaceful 'third space' here. The designer takes inspiration from the Chinese humanistic spirit of "bookish elegance" and skillfully integrates elements of gold, stone, and wood with modern aesthetics to construct a unique design context of "poetic East". This space not only emphasizes privacy and entertainment, but also serves the functions of reception and negotiation, becoming an ideal place for urbanites to escape the hustle and bustle and seek inner peace.
Entrance Hall: The Enlightenment Beauty of Eastern Artistic conception
The Oriental Beauty education has been passed down for thousands of years, nurturing a profound and introverted spiritual core. The beauty of this artistic conception that transcends material appearances is both qi and rhyme. As the starting point of the space, the entrance hall is designed with the imagery of mountains and rocks in classical Chinese elements, combined with a round moon shape and multi-level lighting layout, creating a soft yet rigid Chinese artistic conception. Here, tradition and modernity blend perfectly, and every detail tells the unique charm of Eastern culture.
Reception area: a social space where elegance gathers
The Qing Dynasty's rising tide wrote in "Yumingying": "People should not be happy to be idle, it is not idle. When idle, one can play the qin, visit famous mountains, make good friends, drink tea, and write books. The joy of the world is nothing greater than that." The leisure reception area is such a space full of relaxation, social interaction, and atmosphere. People from different fields and backgrounds gather here to speak freely and achieve barrier free communication and exchange.
The space is based on warm wood color, which enhances the structural sense of the space, while vibrant orange accents inject a youthful and upward spirit into the calm Chinese temperament. Metal elements emit a unique Chinese retro charm under the backdrop of lighting. From the overall layout to furniture matching, and then to the wooden and stone window scenery, the entire space embodies the traditional Chinese philosophy of life - cultivating subtlety, maintaining harmony, and treating objects with emptiness.
The tea tasting area adjacent to the reception area is set against a wooden background, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The integration of orange enriches the visual hierarchy, working together with elements such as texture, material, light, and color to create a poetic space full of understated charm for visitors. The large french window introduce the outdoor green plants and the Taihu Lake Lake stone landscape into the interior, forming an elegant and long dialogue with the interior space, just like a melodious ancient zither music, telling the broad and profound oriental culture.
Architectural master James Terrell once said, "The history of art is about describing light." Designers cleverly set up electrical light sources in the space, making light a special medium and giving orange a lively soul. This open and enthusiastic design posture conveys warmth and a sense of belonging, allowing every visitor to feel welcome and encouragement from the bottom of their heart.
The use of Chinese cultural techniques such as "separation," "barrier," and "transparency" in space achieves a smooth flow of space through sliding and folding doors, ensuring the independence of each area while maintaining the transparency and coherence of the space, allowing symbiosis and integration to be perfectly presented here.
Private room: a feast of five senses intertwined with light and shadow
The host is enjoying the wine tonight, please play the qin Guangling guest. "Wang Zengqi mentioned in" Taste of the Human World ":" To establish oneself, one must rely on food. "Traditional Chinese cuisine, with simple ingredients and exquisite craftsmanship, has achieved the ultimate taste of the human world. As a carrier of daily life, space needs to showcase craftsmanship with details and contain a myriad of flavors in the ultimate realm.
Let light do the design "is a famous saying by I.M. Pei. Light not only embraces space, but also creates a warm atmosphere, embracing every visitor. The small and medium-sized private rooms on both sides of the leisure reception area are large but not empty, thick but not heavy, showcasing the beauty of tolerance and humility. The the Taihu Lake Lake stone art installation has become the focus of space against the light, and the grid facing with scattered texture is both rich and restrained, surpassing the beauty of the image itself.
Between the changes of light and shadow, the color and texture of the space also change accordingly, gradually transforming the atmosphere from bright and active to calm and soft, interpreting the beauty of rhythm that is suitable for both movement and stillness. The perfect collision of Chinese elements and modern technology brings visitors a comprehensive feast of five senses.
Corridor: The Beauty of Poetic Oriental Imagery
Poetic space design draws inspiration from poetry and literary imagery, creating contemporary Eastern spatial poetic expression. The vertical language of natural wood and metal interwoven into lines and surfaces outlines the orderly structure of the space. The customized decorative paintings on the corridors and walls, with the theme of pine forest, cranes, the Taihu Lake Lake stones, interpret the elegant Chinese life aesthetic model. The contrast of colors brings strong artistic tension and intentional perception, allowing people to feel the unique charm of Eastern culture while walking.
Eastern aesthetics emphasizes the harmonious unity between humans and nature, believing that humans are a part of nature and a microcosm of the vast world. Looking towards the reception area from the corridor, the design technique of opening and closing creates a transparent spatial pattern. The modernist decorative paintings on the walls and the deep space form a visual patchwork, echoing each other and creating a richly layered spatial experience.
Entertainment room: a perfect fusion of tradition and modernity
In the leisurely world, there is no shame in stealing music. The design endows the lighting with rich expression, allowing people to perceive the existence of the soul of the space. The entertainment room creates a space full of fantasy and technology through clever lighting design and the use of decorative elements. The stepped top surface and linear lighting create a gentle guidance, creating a highly private atmosphere with a sense of light.
Here, there is both the joy of gathering together and a personal small stage. The perfect integration of modern functional design and traditional aesthetic concepts responds to the rigid demands of the present era for spirit and culture. Meeting friends with tea and enjoying music with sparrows ", the hustle and bustle of the world dissipates here. The corner against the wall is decorated with Chinese classical red as the base color, creating an Eastern atmosphere of the interplay of reality and illusion, hiding the beauty of elegance within grace. The combination of green plants and wooden veneers creates a Chinese style secluded and elegant atmosphere. The clever combination of colors, lines, materials, and objects makes this no longer an ordinary chess and card room, but a social place full of Eastern atmosphere and modern fashion.
Bathroom: Elegant and modern freehand style
Xiaoxuan window, dressing up. The bathroom is paved with beige wall and floor tiles, and the natural stone texture is like a delicate ink wash blending in between. The embellishment of Chinese style decorative paintings and ornaments is simple and elegant with a unique charm. The space of modern freehand brushwork contains the charm of Chinese style, permeated with a concise and enduring elegant core, awakening the intuition and inner realm of Eastern people towards beauty.
The bathroom cleverly uses glass, stone, and metal materials to create a transparent and luxurious spatial feel. The perfectly balanced circular elements embellish the space, conveying a sense of harmony and completeness while breaking through the limitations of space. Under the warm light, the entire space exudes a peaceful and elegant atmosphere, allowing people to enjoy a moment of tranquility and relaxation while busy.
Conclusion: Contemporary Interpretation of Eastern Aesthetics
The design of Beijing's urban living room, with the charming charm and gorgeous elegance of the East, creates a private and romantic space far away from the hustle and bustle, expanding the extension of the quality of life. Here, tradition and modernity are intertwined, and Eastern aesthetics and modern design are perfectly integrated, providing urbanites with an ideal place to seek inner peace and enjoy a poetic life. Occasional leisure time, gathering with guests here, everything is in silence, leaving only the elegance and charm belonging to the East echoing in my heart for a long time.
