Located in the Baoshan Jiaoyun Smart Bay Science and Technology Innovation Park in Shanghai, Laite Technology Headquarters is an innovative enterprise dedicated to the research and development of life science instruments. The office space was designed by the RooMoo team, with an indoor area of 489 square meters. Through the clever fusion of structuralism and soft technology, it redefines a flexible, open, and belonging office environment.
Structure is bone, space is for use
The design team was inspired by the ideas of Dutch structuralist architect Hermann Herzberg and incorporated a new "latitude longitude" structural system into the existing steel structure framework. An L-shaped half story cantilever structure has been added on both sides of the space, and the staircase has been placed in the center to form a clear spatial block relationship. This modular block composition not only serves as a carrier for carrying different functional areas, but also provides the possibility of flexible adjustment and reorganization of layout in the future, realizing the design philosophy of "forming space, leaving space". From the on-site structural analysis diagram, it can be seen that the open office area, independent meeting room, tea break area, and the left operation assembly area (including exhibition hall, workshop, etc.) are both independent and visually connected, achieving a delicate balance between openness and closure.
Assembly concept, running through details
Leite's brand color deviates from the common blue-green tone in the technology industry, choosing pink and pink green. The "I+D" in the logo cleverly forms a smile symbol, establishing a "soft technology sense" tone. Design extends the characteristics of precision assembly of products to spatial shaping. The curved semi transparent corrugated board hanging from the ceiling, the front desk structure, and even the door handles have all evolved from the "smile" pattern, injecting a lively atmosphere into the industrial style space. The wall structure also reflects the "assembly" thinking: using "gong" steel as the base frame, the middle layer is directly made of branded color gypsum board, and the outer layer is covered with easy to disassemble curved corrugated board, reducing the number of processes while echoing the flexible and variable design theme.
Belonging convergence, humanistic care
Real office environment design ultimately serves the human experience and connection. Radium space fully utilizes structuralism's emphasis on interaction and perception, as well as industrial style's pursuit of transparent flow. Through symmetrical spatial layout, central staircase connecting the top and bottom, and extensive use of transparent glass and semi transparent partitions, the flow and penetration of space are visually achieved. This allows employees to perceive the overall activity status of the team at any time while enjoying a focused work area, promoting informal communication. The auxiliary functions such as printing room and cleaning room hidden under the stairs reflect a careful consideration of convenience and space efficiency. In the end, this space went beyond a mere collection of functions and became a vivid field that could unite teams and inspire a sense of belonging.
