In a 1500 square meter space in Istanbul, Studio 13 Architects has created an office space for Cezeri Baykar, with the core concept of "designing the future with inspiration from the past", paying tribute to Al Jazari, the "father of robotics engineering" of the 12th century - for his programmable robots and automation inventions in his book "The Book of Knowledge of Exquisite Mechanical Devices", laying the foundation for modern AI technology. Here, we break the cold and hard impression of traditional technology office, using pink tones and warm materials to outline a people-oriented office philosophy, allowing 12th century mechanical intelligence and contemporary artificial intelligence to coexist here.

Office environment: Immersive integration of history and functionality

The space adopts a composite form of "museum+office", integrating Al Jazari's mechanical models and manuscript replicas into daily scenes. The replica of the "Machine Elephant Water Clock" at the entrance forms a spatiotemporal dialogue with the AI robot interactive device. The open collaborative area adopts a curved dome design, paying tribute to Islamic architectural aesthetics; Scattered transparent display cabinets showcase the manuscript of the Book of Knowledge, allowing employees to touch history during discussions. The 1500 square meter space is divided into dynamic modules: a lifting desk suitable for standing work, a meditation room with wool sound-absorbing panels and pink light to create a sense of tranquility, a central exhibition hall with conference functions, and a 360 degree projection to demonstrate the evolution of ancient machinery and modern robot technology in real time. The ground mosaic draws on the geometric pattern of Seljuk Dynasty, and the traditional "mihrab" arch outline is used on the wall. The open office area seats integrate the low form and ergonomic design of 12th century nomadic furniture, with gray pink fabric and rotatable wooden armrests, balancing cultural symbols and comfort. The "Mechanical Tree" conference table in the collaboration area is the finishing touch - the desktop is embedded with a touch screen to demonstrate ancient mechanical principles, and the table legs replicate the cam mechanism of the "Book of Knowledge".
